Ian Thornton designed the Mithra Brass Table Lamp with its powerful brutalist profile. The cast aluminum lamp has all of the attributes that make foundry pieces so special, such as the drifts of stippling on the metal's surface. The antique brass finish highlights the texture to bring the gold lamp the feel of a vintage piece. Thornton was inspired by a mid-century modern sculpture when he designed the Mithra. The honed granite base and the off-white shantung shade are clean-lined elements that leave the sculpture to shine.
